Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She founded The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she relocated to England at the age of 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Her success as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she completed her studies. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the state of the nation's politics. It was possible for her to recruit numerous prominent contributors to post their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna became famous during 2003 when she volunteered for California's recall election, replacing then Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of the Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes listed her as one of as one of the "most influential women" in the media industry with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. Then she was appointed the head of the media division at AOL. It was comprised of several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalist and management consultants. Her life was shaped through her relationship with her mother as well as her relationship with her father, despite her being very close to her father. As a child she displayed leadership qualities which she is still renowned for. When she was in her 16th year she returned to the UK to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She joined Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the third and first female to be elected president. In 1972, she graduated with an MA in Economics. Her career as an anchor and reporter started after her graduation. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
