Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the top-streamed track within 6 months. A mix between Reggaeton and pop came out in 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and. It became the most-streamed at that time within six months. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to just two songs in 2015. But during the peak of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks which made it into the Top 100. And in 2020 the number was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 shortly after which the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), while Madonna was a part of Medellin together with Maluma (2019). A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards mainstream music in 2020. However, a brand new group, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. It often blended elements from electronic dance music, as well as different styles.
